I am formally trained in translational clinical research at the Pennsylvania State University; however, my passion is science education. Specifically, my goal is to develop not only a hypothetical knowledge of exercise physiology, but also hands on skills that students with an undergraduate degree will need for graduate school and future careers. A combination of lecture, discussion, laboratory activities and scientific writing assignments are core components of the courses I teach. In all courses, I make a point to incorporate technology for hands on learning as well as provide educational support through online office hours. My goal is to not only educate my students on the basics on exercise physiology, but also to keep them up to speed on current research findings, training methods, technological devices and pharmacological interventions.
I am a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine and have completed the Distance/Hybrid Education Teaching Certification from Shenandoah University. I am newly certified in Mental Health First Aid for Adults through the National Council for Behavioral Health.
